QR code not working

If your phone can’t scan or recognise the evwala eSIM QR code, here’s what to try.

A smudged lens can prevent your phone from reading the QR code. Give it a wipe.

  • Make sure the QR code is well-lit (avoid glare on screens).
  • Hold your phone about 15-20cm from the QR code.
  • Make sure the entire QR code is within the camera frame.

Don’t use a generic QR code scanner app. Use your phone’s eSIM settings:

  • iPhone: Settings → Cellular → Add eSIM → Use QR Code
  • Android: Settings → Network & Internet → SIMs → Add SIM → Download a SIM instead
  • Samsung: Settings → Connections → SIM Manager → Add eSIM → Scan QR code

If the QR code is displayed on the same phone you’re trying to install it on, you can’t use the camera. Instead:

  • iPhone: Press and hold the QR code image in WhatsApp → Open in Settings.
  • Android/Samsung: Take a screenshot of the QR code, then use the “Scan from image” option in your eSIM settings.

Each QR code can only be used once. If you’ve already scanned it (even if installation failed), it may be expired.
